A self-portrait 25 years in the making – a review by Alessia Farrugia
Chronicles in Colour
”This exhibition showcases James Vella Clark’s vibrant artistic journey and celebrate his 25 years of artistic evolution. This retrospective will present Vella Clark’s dynamic transformation from his early expressionist landscapes to his more recent bold abstract expressions.
Vella Clark’s work evolved from early urbanistic views to exploring the landscape as an emotional and conceptual representation of his personal human experience. Over time, landscape elements merged with abstract forms to create his unique, distinctive style. Colour, a constant throughout his career, unifies this journey, from his early earthy tones inspired by Maltese stone and the Mediterranean’s blue to his more vibrant experimental hues. Visitors will be invited to engage with his works on an intimate level, experiencing the process and inspiration behind his art. This exhibition celebrates James Vella Clark’s legacy, marking 25 years of artistic experience.”
